I’m really thinking about going to this. I haven’t been on the track in ages and a low pressure school sounds like just the way to go.

You can’t pick them out of a crowd. They mingle among us, coming from all walks of life, posing as pharmacists, letter carriers, and lab technicians by day. But come weekends, inhibitions are shed as they pull on tight leathers and head to the local track to feed their need. With implements like the CBR600RR and the Kawasaki 636RR at their disposal, they barrel down straights wide-open before scraping knee pucks tilting into the turns. They also shatter the antiquated mindset that the track is a man’s domain, with more women than ever before sharpening their riding skills at track days across the country. MotorcycleUSA took notice of this trend while attending a recent outing at Thunderhill Parkway with Pacific Track Time. —Bryan Harley
Leslie Porterfield is one amazingly fast woman. She has the top time on a sit-on motorcycle from the 2009 BUB Speed Trials at Bonneville. 240 miles per hour is crazy fast on a bike.
I met her at Femmoto a couple of years ago. We talked about her leathers, Fieldsheer has a picture of her on their site but they don’t sell them. I contacted them to see about the suit but they never got back to me, turns out they were a custom job for her since they are one of her sponsors.

Test riding the new KTM 1190 RC8R.
Seriously this is a wicked bike. This KTM is the new generation and is set to give the Ducati 1198, BMW S1000RR and Aprilia RSV4 some good competition.
In true superbike fashion it is nasty on anything under 3,000 revs, but once up and running it is pure thrills to ride.
It’s got 123 Nm torque, 170hp at 10,250 rpm and if that is not enough for you KTM are offering an optional racing kit that’ll boost power to 180hp! It’s nice and light too - only a mere 183kgs dry and nearly 200kgs wet.
This model will probably set you back around an easy $38K.
That is a seriously cool bike. I haven’t been lucky enough to grab a ride on the RC8 but I LOVE the Super Duke.
